tobacco; (b) Cooperatives covering a large percentage of consumers' goods, such as flour mills, 
 
groceries, etc.; and (c) Private banking, mining and manufacturing. This last field is largely 
 
dominated by organizations controlled by Enskilda Banken. This bank is controlled and managed 
 
by the Wallenberg family who have been bankers for a long time and whose foreign Connections 
 
are the most important and extensive of any group in Sweden.
 
                The present managing director of the bank is Jakob Wallenberg, who is a bachelor 
 
about 54 years old. He is responsible for the business of the bank dealing with the European 
 
continent, including Germany. His younger brother, Marcus Wallenberg, is responsible for the 
 
business of the bank dealing with the English-speaking world and South America.
 
                 Jakob Wallenberg is the permanent negotiator of the Swedish government with the
German government in matters pertaining to trading agreements, barter, etc. In this position he 
 
has frequent contacts with the Gemnan government and visits Germany about four or five times a 
 
year. In his private capacity as a leading banker, he is in touch with a cross-section of the high
