friend explained that this was the highest Finnish medical title, there being only three living men 
 
who hold it.  He explained that while he himself was not acquainted with the doctor personally, he 
 
did know that he was one off the most powerful men in Germany. He went on to say that seven 
 
Swedish engineers employed by the Swedish Match Subsidiary in Poland had been caught and 
 
convicted of working with the Polish Underground. The Director of the Swedish Match 
 
Monopoly in Germany, Alva Moller, a mutual friend of ours, had gone to the doctor with a plea 
 
to have the death sentence of the Swedish engineers commuted, and this had been done. In 
 
addition, the doctor had arranged for two Dutch children, the son and daughter of the former 
 
Dutch Minister to Italy, to be given safe conduct through Germany to join their sister in Sweden. 
 
This had been done without delay, and I saw the children myself to verify this account. They did 
 
not, of course, know who had arranged for their passage but I did verify that they had been trying 
 
to get out of Switzerland for more than three years without success.
 
     Since the doctor was renovmed as a nerve specialist, an appointment was arranged for him
