October 25, 1943 My dear Mr. President: I am enclosing a copy of a telegram which has been received through British channels from the American Charge d'Affaires at Vatican City, concerning an audience with the Pope. Mr. Tittmann reports that the Pope is concerned about the food situation in Rome and irresponsible Communist activities before the arrival of the Allied Troops in the Italian capital. Faithfully yours, (signed) Edward Tittman Enclosure: Copy of telegram October 19, 1943. The President The White House. |
