Your Excellency:
 
     
 
 
Some days ago I transmitted to the Holy Father, through the kind offices   
of His Eminence, the Cardinal Secretary of State, the message which Your   
Excellency had left with me for that purpose.
 
      
 
 
His Eminence now directs me to communicate the following message to   
Your Excellency, and I take great pleasure in so doing:
 
     
 
 
"His Holiness was deeply gratified by the renewed expression of lofty   
sentiments. The August Pontiff while uniting with all his heart in the   
prayerful wishes for the rapid attainment of a just and lasting peace,   
continues to lend himself in every possible manner for this noble and   
arduous purpose, ever trusting Divine protection.
 
     
 
 
"The Holy Father prays that God may bless His Excellency, the Ambassador,   
and Mrs. Taylor with health and prosperity."
