Dear Mr. President:

In 1941 as I went from Rome I took
up with the Prime Minister and Mr.
Anthony Eden in London the question
of equipping 100,000 Polish soldiers
in Russia and moving them to the
southern part of the Russian line so
that they might, in case of Russian
collapse, escape into Iran and join
the Allies.
