     TRIPLE PRIORITY.
 
     167, January 12, 7 p.m. (SECTION TWO).
 
     Since I have been here I have done everything in my power to
see that present British war experience was reported back to
Washington through military channels in order to make certain
that in the inevitable conflict that we faced that the American
pilot would be provided with every aircraft improvement and
instrument that the British through experience have found
essential for the RAF pilots in conjunction with the ground
supports that had been developed here. I explained to you in a
message that I wrote some months ago that the efficienty of
ground control made a hundred airplanes more effective than a
thousand planes would have been without such ground control.
Sixty thousand airplanes for 1942 demands, I realize, the
application of American ingenuity for mass production but the
application of mass production principles must not sacrifice the
small margins of
