THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON MEMORANDUM FOR OCTOBER 13, 1943 GENERAL MARSHALL When I saw Bedle Smith the other day I raised the question of sending further equipment to fit out the new French divisions. Just as a matter of interest, I dictaated the enclosed to the Prime Minister on September seventh last but did not send it. I think a showdown will come soon but it is a matter which, in a sense, relates a good deal more to Eisenhower than to Bob Murphy. I hope you will keep in close touch with the situation. Please return enclosures for my files. F.D.R. |
