April 10th,1950. Mr. Henry T.Hackett Attorney-at-Law 226 Union Street, Poughkeepsie, New York. Dear Sir: We represent Mrs.Nettie A.Kemmerer. Mrs. Nettle A.Kemmerer's maiden name was Nettle Arvilla Groves. She is a daughter of Allen Douglas Groves, who died at Lancaster,Ohio, several years ago. Mrs. Kemmerer tells us this story, which we would like to have definitely verified or denied as the case may be. Shesays that a daughter of Isaac Gaines was the first wife of James Roosevelt. Six sons were born of this marriage. After the death of his first wife, James Roosevelt married Sarah Delano. Their son was Franklin D.Roesevelt. According to the Will of James Roosevelt, it is provided that after thedeath of his second wife, Sarah Delano Roosevelt, and the payment of administration expenses, etc. that $500.00 was to be paid to Nettie Arvilla Groves, our client. Nettie Arvilla Groves (now Kemmerer) was the daughter of Allen Douglas Groves. Allen Douglas Groves was a Son of Andrew Groves, who was the husband of Rachel Katherine Gaines, who was a daughter of Isaac Gaines. The surname of the mother of Isaac Gaines was Douglas, from which ancestor Allen Douglas Groves received his name, The information furnished us by Mrs. Kemmerer is that there was a Will filed in Dutchess County,New York, about November 12,1941, that the Executors and Trustees were James Roosevelt and Basil 0'gonnor and that you are named as their attorney. There is also furnished us the name of Earle R.Koons of the firm of O'Connor and Farver, 120 Broadway, New York, as attorney for the estate. (MORE) |
