of human cruelty. And the next morning after their arrival, 18 of
 
these men were unable to walk, and they were replaced by eighteen
 
 healthier prisoners already at Pasay.
 
                Later on, we were to meet up with this party again--at
 
least, out of the original party of 300, we were to meet up with the
 
thirty-odd who had not died from hunger, cruelty or disease. Later
 
on, although we did not know it at the time, we were to be 
 
transferred to the prison camp at Cabanatuan, where death was a 
 
part of our way of life.
