MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
The following report of the meeting on 21
May between the Ban of Croatia and Mr. Churchill was
prepared for me by my special assistant, Mr. Bernard
Yarrow. You will recall that we have had Yarrow with
the Ban for something over a year, and before he left
a week ago I sent you a copy of a statement from the Ban prepared just prior to his departure.
In view of the secrecy maintained by the
British on this conference, apart from this report to you, I am having only the Secretary of State
advised.
As can be seen from the report, the Ban has great confidence in Yarrow's judgment and
advice, and we would not want to jeopardize the opportunity for future intelligence which we may
be able to obtain for you by giving this report circulation now.
