TO: JOSEPH STALIN
FROM: THE PRESIDENT
WE ARE HAVING GRAVE DIFICULTIES WITH THE NORTHERN
CONVOY ROUTE AND HAVE INFORCED LITVINOFF OF THE C0MPLICATIONS.
YOU MAY BE SURE, HOWEVER, THAT NO EFFORT WIILL BE OMITTED TO
GETAS MANY SHIPS OFF AS POSSIBLE.
I HAVE HEARD OF ADMIRAL STANDEY'S CORDIAL REDCEPTION BY YOU
AND WISH TO EXPESSR MY APPRECIATION.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING MOLOTOV AND THE MOMENT I
HEAR OF THE ROUTE WE SHALL MAKE PRRPARATIONS TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE
TRANSPPRTATION. I DO HOPE MOLOTOV CAN STAY WITH ME IN THE WHITE
HOUSE WHILE HE IS IN WASHINGTON BUT WE CAN MAKE A PRIVATE HOME
NEARBY AVAILABLE IF THAT IS DESIRED.
