-2-#6234, December 27, 7 p.m. (SECTION SEVEN) from London
have been dealt with by the Executive itself, one
of its committees or the liaison objects con-
ference. It may be useful however to give some
typical examples in greater detail as follows.
A port security. Questions affecting port
security have covered a wide range, e.g. security of
docks and ships, conditions affecting British,
allied and neutral seamen, the examination of pas-
sangers outgoing and incoming including refugees
censorship of documents on passengers and ships,
maintaining the secrecy of ships destinations and
other important information. A number of departments
are involved: Admiralty, War Off ice, Ministry of War
Transport, port authorities, Ministry of Labor, Home
Office immigration and customs offices, censorship,
security, service and local police forces. In fac-
ing the many problems an attempt is made to reconcile
the needs of security with the practical working of
the port.
