 Later- as I walked downstairs from the Chigi Palace, I asked   
myself why Ciano had told me all these things, and I arrived at the   
conclusion, that some was said because he wished to tell it - and   
furthermore, wished to make a good impression upon me, whom he considered   
an lntellectuel with a certain standing, and at last, maybe for the   
craving of just speaking to somebody. And I thought to myself: maybe I   
          will be able to print it all - one day.
