Telegram from London dated November 24th, 1941
NAVAL
Glenroy at 1520/23 on passage to Tobruk with troops hit by
torpedo from aircraft. Carlisle towed Glenroy; endeavours are
being made to beach her at Mersa Matruh. Troops transferred have
been landed at Tobruk.
Night of 23rd/24th during E-boat attack on East coast convoy
18 miles off Yarmouth, British tanker 5723 tons was sunk and
another ship torpedoed. Escorting destroyer probably sank one
E-boat and damaged two others.
November 12th. Russian submarine K 21 near Hammerfest torpedoed
two ships estimated 4000 and 5000 tons. One sunk.
MILITARY
Russia
. West of Moscow Germans are maintaining their
attack against strong Russian resistance.
ROYAL AIR FORCE
23 bombers escorted by fighters attacked factory in North
of France. Hudson claimed one hit on large merchant ship off
South Norway.
Night of 23rd/24th approximately 100 aircraft dispatched as
follows: Lorient (54); Dunkirk (37); Brest (11).
LIBYA
22 light bombers and Hurricanes attacked enemy MT concentration
at Bit Hakeim and large column on E1 Adem Acroma Road. 100 vehicles
including l0 fuel tanks destroyed and road blocked. 4 lorries
and 3 tanks destroyed on Barce-Derna Road. Night of 22nd/23rd
Wellington from Malta attacked Berca aerodromes hits on building
MT and bomb dumps.
