. During attack on Glenroy on the 23rd one or
possibly both attacking aircraft were shot down.
Second attack was made by E-boats on East Coast convoy night
of 23rd/24th off Yarmouth and Dutch ship 1984 tons was sunk.
Ship reported torpedoed first attack was British 4155 tons and
was towed into Yarmouth. During first attack one E-boat sunk
certainly, one probably sunk and one damaged certainly
H.M. Ship Aurora, Penelope and two destroyers attacked convoy
two merchant vessels 5,000 tons each 2 destroyer's southwest
of Crete at 1534/24th. Both merchant ships sunk. Enemy destroyers
escaped.
British ship 1200 tons at 1855/22 within Irish territorial
waters attacked by three Junker 88's with bombs and machine guns.
Attack unsuccessful except for slight damage from near miss.

. Moscow Sector. Germans are believed to have reached
Solnechnaya-Gora (11 miles southeast of Klin on Kalinin-Moscow
Railway). Center, Germans have made slight advance east of Tula
towards Riazhsk against strong Russian resistance.
