governments will be handled for the United States through the Commander, United States Forces
in the British Isles.
c. Weapons and Equipment.
(1) Antiaircraft. Initially all antiaircraft protection for U.S. Field Forces,
establishments and installations will be the responsibility of the British. Eventually antiaircraft
protection for U.S. forces in Northern ireland will be provided from United States personnel
equipped and maintained for armament and ammunition from British sources.
(2) Field Artillery. Initially 144 25-pounders, with 15OO rounds per gun, will be
delivered by the British to U.S. Forces in Northern Ireland. The British will supply additional
ammunition and maintenance equipment for these weapons as requested by the Commander, U. S.
Forces in the British Isles.
(3) Air. It will be the responsibility of the British to provide appropriate air
protection and support for the U. S. Field Forces, establishments and installations in Northern
Ireland, in their mission, until such time as the means are made available to the Commander~ U.
S. Forces in the British Isles to assume this responsibility.
d. Shelter.
It will be the responsibility of the British to provide shelter for the U.S. Army Forces in
Northern Ireland.
