technical superiority that the RAF pilots experience has forced
the British manufacturers into incorporating into British
aircraft used here. [I still believe that the latest designs of
the Spitfire, and there have been developed six successive types,
is more effective than any combat plane we have so far produced,]
the light bomber and the medium bomber of United States design is
equal if not superior to similar British models, the United
States heavy bomber, although perhaps a better airplane is not as
efficient as a bomber because of the lack of equipment,
flexibility and general utility as the British bombers. In fact
the latest models of the the Liberator twos now delivered cannot
be used until 5000 hours of labor is expended here on each
airplane in order to incorporate the necessary improvements
resulting from combat experience.
