Aug. 22nd, 1939. Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt The White House Washington, D. C. Dear Franklin: The foreclosure action against Bub (the Schmaling farm) was settled this morning just before the time set for the auction. Louis Schmaling of Port Chester, N, Y. bought the property, paying off the first and second mortgages and a Judgment aggregating in all, as I am informed, about $9,000. His father owned the Abram Van Wagner farm next north of this one on the Van Wagner Road. With kindest regards, Sincerely yours, Henry Hackett |
