April 5th, 1940. Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt Hyde Park Dutchess Co., N. Y. Dear Franklin: The process of acquiring the title to the Lent wood lot has come to a temporary halt and you now own 3/6, or 1/2, of it. The owners of the other 3/6, or 1/2, do not seem anxious to sell as appears from the enclosed copies of the last letters written by them to Hatfield. Today, I was informed that Mr. G. Hall Roosevelt is about to rent some of the buildings on the Dumphy farm, which he has improved with water, electric light and heat, at a figure so low that he cannot escape a loss. I strongly suggest that you look into this matter before the lease is signed and delivered. With kindest regards, I am Sincerely yours, Henry Hackett |
