July 22nd, 1939. Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt Hyde Park Dutchess County, N. Y. Dear Franklin: In reference to the Lent wood lot, Mr. Lent, an attorney of Highland, Ulster County, N. Y., who represents Mrs. Leo, one of the Lent heirs, called on Hatfield one day about a week ago and said that he could get a deed from two of the heirs. Mr. Leo called at Hatfield's office yesterday in the absence of Hatfield and left word to have the deed sent down to Mrs. Leo for execution. As Hatfield has been dealing with Mr. Lent in this matter, he thought it better to speak to him before sending the deed. This morning he called up Mr. Lent and found that he will be away until Monday. On Monday Hatfield will call him up before sending the deed to Mrs. Leo. I have prepared three quit claim deeds to Hatfield from Ms. Leo, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Lewis and have delivered them to him with my check to his order for $200. for Mrs. Leo, so that he will be ready to do business whenever they are. I expect to go away Monday for a few days vacation and on my return will take up this matter again. With kindest regards, I am Sincerely yours, Henry Hackett |
