Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt
The White House
Washington, D. C.

Dear Franklin:

Replying to your memo of July 27th containing
letter of Mrs.Teasdale in reference to the sale of the
Jacobs farm, the Jacobs farm was the old Winne farm
consisting of about 92 acres and is bounded on the south
by the farm you purchased from Peter C. Rohan, on the west
by the "wood lot"and on the north by the Schaffer farm now
owned by Mrs.Backer.

One of the Jacobs brothers has been in to see
me frequently about selling it to you. The last price he
mentioned was $9,000. Apparently he had heard that Mrs.
Backer paid that amount for her farm. Mrs. Teasdale asks
$8,000. He wanted to sell the farm and then rent it back
and I think he is still willing to do that.

I am enclosing an extract from the deed to the
Jacobs brothers from which you will observe there is a right
of way over it to the "wood lot."

If you have any extra money, I think it would
not be a bad idea to offer $7,000. cash.

Kindly let me know what you think before I
answer the letter.

            With kindest regards, I am
                       Sincerely yours,
                       Henry Hackett
