February 3, 1941 Dear Missy: Enclosed please find a small check to the order of the President. It is impossible for me to determine the increase in taxes, the insurance, or anything of that nature, if you and Mr. Hackett do not get into accord. So far both the President and I have been paying insurance premiums on what might be a duplication of risk. If we could settle down and determine the insurance premium, I prefer to have it paid through Mr. Hackett, and I shall refund the amount so paid to you. By this means only could we be certain that there is no duplication of insurance in force. The enclosed check is purposely made small in order that you give this matter some attention now that inauguration is over. Sincerenly, Hall Roosevelt |
