May 21, 1941. Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt The White House Washington, D. C. Dear Franklin: Replying to your letter of May 14, I believe that the assessment of the Hughson farm has not been increased owing to Mr. Hall Roosevelt's alterations and now is assessed at $6,000 and has been since you acquired title to it. The assessment of the Dumphy farm lying west of Violet Avenue has been increased from $5700 to $8000, making an increase of $2300, which is probably due to his alterations and the taxes paid on that parcel on Feb. 21, 1941 amounted to $210.53. The increase of $2300 at a rate of $26.32 zamounts to $60.53 which he should refund to you. With kindest regards, I am Sincerely yours, Henry Hackett |
