HENRY T HACKETT ATTORNEY& COUNSELLOR ATLAW 226 UNION STREET POUGHKEEPSIE, NEWYORK October 20, 1942. Miss Grace G. Tully The White House Washington, D. C. My dear Miss Tully: Since the death of Mrs. Roosevelt the various insurance agents have sent to me all of their insurance policies covering both the property of the President and of his mother's estate and I have paid their bills as far as the bank balance here would permit. I have sent some of the bills, especially on the Campobello property, to Mr. Morris for him to pay and charge against the President's share of the estate. Twice Mr. Luckey has sent bills bothto the President and to me, which I have already paid, but each time he has endorsed over the President's checks so I could deposit the money back in the bank account here. On October 5 I paid a bill for $43.94 to Mr. Luckey, being the premium on the following policies: #A65638 Hanover Fire Ins. Co. , $6.00 and # z AC436088 United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co., $37.94, each policy covering the Ford Phaeton. Today he has handed to me a check of the President dated October 15, drawn for $43.94 in payment of the premiums on these policies, which he has endorsed to me. I have asked Mr. Luckey not to send,in the future, bills to both the President and to me. When you have a chance, will you please bring this matter to the attention of the President so that he will understand what is going on. Also, will you please remind him that we have purchased another 1/6 interest in the Lent wood lot from Mrs. Lewis. Sincerely yours, |
