*	The assessed value for local taxes was taken in the amount of
$71,900.00 and $15,100.00 was added as an estimate of the pos-
sible excess of appraised value over the assessed value.

** In New York insurance is included in the gross estate and later
deducted as exempt property subject to certain limitations which
 	are not pertinent here.

***	This item includes an estimated appraised value of $50,000.00
for the Hyde Park land and buildings transferred to the govern-
ment in connection with which the President retained a life
estate. Since the property went to the government, the value
is later deducted under Schedule N as a public gift.

**** This is the President's share of his mother's estate on which
estate taxes were paid within five years prior to the President's
 	death.

*****	This figure varies from the figure in Schedule I (1) because
property identified as previously taxed is not deductible in
full but is reduced by the proportion of other deductible
expenses that the property previously taxed bears to the
	entire estate.
