Fifteen tons of H.E. and 800 incendiaries dropped on each, major bursts observed in target areas. Road and rail junctions also bombed at Turin and a blast furnace attacked in vicinity. Yesterday all medium bombers returned safely from operations, though majority unable to reach objectives owing to unfavourable weather. Four aerodromes in Northern France however were attacked, at one of which hits observed on hangars. In early afternoon Sunderland aircraft escorting convoy off the west coast of Scotland was attacked by enemy four-engined land plane. Enemy aircraft broke off engagement after being hit; Sunderland forced to return owing to tank damage from cannon fire. Last night eighty-three aircraft sent to attack enemy aerodromes and oil targets in occupied France and railway targets in north west Germany. Four aircraft did not return. 3. German Air Force. Now reported that Perham M.T. School was bombed on afternoon of August 13th. Damage caused to workshop and several lorries; casualties ten killed and twenty-three wounded. Enemy attacks yesterday were on a much lighter scale chiefly directed against aerodromes, ten of which attacked.
