Night of January 2nd/3rd. Latest casualties 48 ki %lled and 160
seriously injured. Many fires but only about 10 buildings actually
gutted. All fires extinguished by O.a.m. Same night. Roof and
windows of Llandaff Cathedral extensively damaged. No key point
factory affected except indirectly through interruption of public
utility services.
Bristol.
Night of January 3rd/4th, Attack started at 6:30 p.m. and continued
throughout the night. Several serious fires but all under control
by 6 a.m., although not before considerable damage done to private
property and to some food stores and warehouses. Main damage
is to principal railway atation.
Number of fires caused at Bath by incendiary bomb and high explosive
bombs but quickly brought under control.
Scattered bombing occurred in Newcastle West and in Lancashlre.
