                          Summary.                          
 
                                                            
                           Naval.                           
 British ship (2,495 tons) bombed off Spurn Point 
                   p.m./15th sank later in tow.             
 
                                                            
 
 
2. Small British ship in convoy damaged by near miss p.m./16th 
                      was towed into Humber.                
 
                                                            
 
 
3. At 20.45/15th four M.G.B's. had short sharp engagement 
      force about six enemy E or R boats and one trawler off Blanc 
      Nez. Casualties and damage inflicted by both sides. Enemy shore 
      defenses in action. One M.G.B. considerably damaged. Casualties:

4. Plain language wireless message intercepted night of 16th/17th 
      stated that German ship "Schwaneck" (2,194 tons) had 
             struck a mine north east of Swinemunde.

                          Russia.                           
 In sectors west of Moscow and north of Tula 
      there have been comparatively heavy Russian counter-attacks but 
   south of Tula Germans are making further progress eastwar

      including five 4,000 pounds; Kiel 11 tons HE. Night of 16th/17th,

                           Libya                            
. Daylight 14th and 15th Marylands attacked 
      aerodromes Derna and El Timimi. Two enemy aircraft destroyed 
      and five damaged on ground. Other attacks made on stores dumps 
      at Gazala and by machine gun fire on M.T. vehicles on Barce Giovanni 
      Berta road.
