A Beaufort hit a Flak ship off the Dutch Coast with a torpedo. Two Spitfires were shot down near CALAIS. 16th/17th. 173 aircraft despatched to - WILHELMSHAVEN 83; OSTEND 32, BREST 22, Sea-mining, BREST 18, DUNKIRK 14, Leaflets (PARIS area) 4. One bomber is missing, one came down in the sea and a third crashed but the crew is safe. CENTRAL MEDITERRANEAN. 15th/16th. 20 Wellingtons attacked Naval shipping at TARANTO. Bombs fell in the target area but a smoke-screen prevented detailed observation of results. (IV) ENEMY ACTIVITY 16th/17th. 41 aircraft operated against the U.K., of which 14 made landfall. MALAYA. 15th. Enemy fighters carried out a low-flying attack on the aerodrome at KUANTAN but no damage or casualties are reported. 16th. Enemy air activity on a limited scale only. |
