Yesterday morning an Italian force consisting of one battleship, three cruisers and four destroyers was sighted off Homs (L) on an easterly course, and a convoy of nine large merchant ships (about lO,O00 tons), accompanied by destroyers, was seen entering Tripoli Harbor. H.M. Submarine "PROTEUS" reports attacking two 8,000 ton transports yesterday morning off the west coast of Greece and sinking one of them containing troops. Previously on the 30th December she hit a 4,000 tons transport West of Cephalonia. 2. MILITARY. LIBYA. Our mobile troops are maintaining pressure on the enemy in the Jedabya area and are harassing his lines of communication. Total Bardia prisoners now 7,46 MALAYA. East. SIOE="-1" FACE="Courier New"> Our Forces withdrew with some difficulty from Kuantan to an area approximately 50 miles to the Uest. A rearguard action was fought resulting in considerable casualties on both sides. West. SIOE="-1" FACE="Courier New"> The enemy have landed in some force at Kuala Selangor and have been engaged by our patrols. They are infiltrating up country, and the threat to our communications continues, but no major developments have so far been repo RUSSIA. The Russians are attacking in the Leningrad sector and in the area north-east of Kharkov. Fighting continues in the Eastern Crimea. 3. AIR OPERATIONS Western Front, 5th. An R.C.A.F. Hudson scored two hits and two near misses on a 5,000 tons merchant ship off the Dutch Coast. 5th/6th. About 40 enemy aircraft were operating p %rincipally off the east coast.
