NAVAL
A Norwegian steamship (4,000 tons) homeward bound in convoy was
torpedoed and sunk on the llth
380 miles W.N.W. of IRELAND (R).

MILITARY
SINGAPORE
. Our counter attacks although partially successful
failed to restore the position.
Continued enemy presume assisted by tanks, caused further withdrawals
and by evening of llth
our position had been stabilized along the general line Naval
Base-NEELSOON Village-Pierce
Reservoir-Race Course-PASIR PANNANI Village.
BURMA
. Road MARTABAN-THATON has been cut by the enemy.
Our positions in MARTABAN were shelled
for one and half hours. A Chinese Division has been in contact
with Siamese forces near the
BURMA-SIAM frontier.
NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES
. GARONPOLA (NORTH CELEBES) reported
occupied by the enemy who also
continue penetrations north of SAMARINDA and BANJER-MASIN in
BORNEO.
RUSSIA
. Russian penetrations south of TOROPETS have been
extended to within 50 miles of
VITEBSK and SMOLENSK. In the DONETS sector the Germans are continuing
to offer resistance and
to deliver local counter attacks.

AIR OPERATIONS
WESTERN FRONT
. 10th/llth. Forty five tons of H.E. on BREMEN
but identification difficult and
results generally unobserved.
Llth. Spitfires hit a probable escort vessel near DUNKIRK with
cannon fire.
llth/12th. Aircraft were despatched as follows: MANNHEIM 49,
HAVRE 31, BREST 18. Leaflets
PAROS-CHERBOURG 5. Sea mining off FRISIAN ISLAND 1. Aerodromes
Northern France 2. 2
Wellingtons missing. 5 enemy aircraft operated against shipping
off the Cornish coast.
MALTA
. On 10th/llth and llth a total of 76 enemy aircraft
attacked aerodromes at LUQA, TAKALI
and HAL FAR and incoming naval forces. 2 Wellingtons on the ground
slightly dama %ged, one
crater on runway at LUQA otherwise no damage to aerodromes. One
enemy bomber probably
destroyed and a further five aircraft damaged.
LIBYA
. Night 9th/10th, Wellingtons attacked MARTUBA landing
ground. Bombs fell amongst
dispersed aircraft and large fires were started.
