is only the symbol of a mutilated Fatherland, a fatherland oppressed, pillaged,  
muzzled, which does not want to be in slavery to Germany and which, with the  
help of God and the Americans, it will escape.  If you could communicate this  
letter to the President I would have no objection to your doing so, confidentially,
