now it has been prohibited, it is true, to be a member of the
organizations "associated" with the National Socialist movement
( called in Dutch text "covering organizations" ), but that alone does
not entail refusal of the sacraments. THe situation, however, is modified
in such a way that it is necessary to consider it equally prohibited to be
a member of the "associated organizations" as to participate in the
National Socialist movement itself. Accordingly, in the future the
sacramnets will be refused to those wo remain members of one of these
organizations affiliated with the Workers League in its new form, just as
to members of all the other "associated organizations" of the National
Socialist movement.
Dear Faithful| We cannot explain to you how profoundly we deplore the
disappearance of the Catholic Worker's League. The latter has been
particularly dear to us because with its approximately 200,000 members,
it embraced a large part of the good and faithful Catholic people;
because for half a century our most distinguished men, priests and
laymen, beginning with Schaepman and Ariens, have devoted to it their
best efforts; because it has realized an immense amount of good in the
social and religious field.
