The institutions belonging to the first group normally received no milk   
ration. To each of the children in such places an assignment was made of 40   
gr. of powdered milk a day (corresponding to 250 cc. liquid milk), 200   
calories thus being added to their food rations, as well as animal proteins,   
salts and other elements necessary for growing children.
 
     
 
 
To each of the children in this first group was allotted an allowance of   
Multiple Vitamin tablets, corresponding to one tablet every day. Each tablet

The institutions belonging to the second group received assignments   
which varied in quantity and in quality in accordance with the special   
conditions in the various institutions and the special requirements of the   
children.
 
     
 
 
Thus, the Provincial Institute for Infants, which houses some 500   
illegitimate babies, sucklings and weaned, received not only a quantity of   
normal powdered milk to augment their usual supply, but also an allowance of   
protein milk, which on account of its special composition (Skim Milk- 49.5%;   
Whole Miik Curd - 47.5%; Lactic Acid 3% is particularly useful in alimentary   
troubles). In addition the Institute received a quantity of Dextri-Maltose   
(Dextri-maltose -98%; Yeast Extract -2%; ferrous Sulphate), as well as Beer   
Yeast Tablets (Vitamin B complex), Ascorbic Acid Tablets (Vitamin C), and   
Navitol (Vitamins A and D in solution). A certain quantity of Vita Snak (Multi-  
Vitamin chocolate bars) was also assigned.
 
     
 
 
The Hospital of the Child Jesus, the Pediatric Clinic and other similiar   
institutions also received similiar allowances.
