Dr. Nelson C. Brown, a forester, was a professor at the New York State College of Forestry from 1930 to 1951. He acted as advisor to the President on the most effective utilization of the forested land on the Roosvelt estate. He continued to advise Mrs. Roosevelt and her son Elliott after the President's death. The papers consist principally of correspondence and statistical data concerning the forestation projects on the President's estate, but there is also some correspondence with the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Foundation and his personal reminiscences.
