The equipment and support of the new French divisions added to the consumption of the
battle in France will continue to place an increasing demand on our production. Every short-cut is
being taken to achieve increases in manufacturing capacity for the supply of critical munitions of
war. In order to get the supplies to the western front, an increasing number of fast vessels are
being placed in service in the Atlantic to shorten the time from the manufacturing plants to the
front line. There is now in operation a fast ship express service for critical items of ammunition
and other supplies.
With the departure of the two divisions on 19 February
the last divisions will have left the United States
for combat theaters.
