     It was clear in the course of this exposition that the Ambassador was discussing these
steps only from the point of view of negotiations and not as bearing upon their influence ont he
actual intent of Hitler.  The general purpose of his remarks was to prove that the British
Government had at the last deliberately sabotaged peace and that the Polish Government and
especially the Polish Ambassador here in failing to further direct negotiations with Germany had
placed themselves in the wrong, at least insofar as the record of the negotiations was concerned.
