Telegram to His Majesty's Ambassador in
Berlin, of August 31st.
Please inform the German Government that His Majesty's Government
understand that the Polish Government are arranging to establish
contact with them through M. Lipski in Berlin. Please enquire
whether in view of the serious situation in Danzig they agree
to the necessity for setting up an immediate provisional modus
vivendi. We have already made this suggestion to the German Government
in paragraph 9 of our recent communication. Would they agree
that M. Burckhardt might be employed in this connexion if it
were possible to secure his services.
