     Your two messages of July 22 do not wholly take me by suprise
 
and I agree that mere acquiscence on the part of our friends is not sufficient.
 
     I therefore repeat the directive that sums other offensives be worked out 
 
for American ground forces in 1942.
 
     Such an offensives ought not to be at such a distance as to require.
