There are reports here in both Japanese and Soviet
circles that an agreement may be expected within a few
days between Japan and Russia which will bring about a
cessation of hostilities on the Mongolian Manchurian
border. Press reports state there has been a lull in
the fighting in that area for the past few days.
Repeated to Chungkin, Peiping and Tokyo.
