         FROM HARRIMAN FOR STETTINIUS.

One. In the artillery group there are certain anti-
tank data. Do they apply to complete equipment or to
guns only?

Two. In the data for the M1918A 20 automatic rifle
and for the M1919A4 and A5 machine guns, are modernized
as well as new weapons included?

Three. It is noted that there are not included in
your list four items of which the production is shown in
Machine gun, two-inch bomb thrower, two-inch smoke bomb,
and three-inch mortar bomb. I should like to know (A)
whether these items are produced in Canada and (b) whether
you regard the production data for these items given in
the ordinance report as authoritative.

Four. Please refer to the first paragraph of your
1694 of April 20. Are both gun and mount also included
in the 81 MM mortar carrier without duplication of
mortars classified as small arms?

Five. Will you please repeat the fourth item in the
armored car subgroup, reference your Navy cable 080200 of
April 8. It is not clear. The last sentence of the second
paragraph of your 1707 of April 21 reads: "Item 6B1 150,000;
item 6A2 71,000". Rather than group six, should this be
group 5?

                                              MATTHEWS.
