      MEMO FOR THE PRESIDENT

I spoke with Colonel Halsey this morning and told him that
you and Mrs. Roosevelt had suggested asking the wives. He said
the space would not permit asking many more people and that they
thought only of asking Mrs. Garner and Mrs. Bankhead. They have
it under consideration but are much afraid they will run into
all kinds of difficulties unless they are able to ask all of
      the wives.
