BRITISH EMBASSY,
WASHINGTON, D.C.
December 20th, 1940
My dear Mr. President,
I write to offer to you and to Mrs. Roosevelt my sincere and
respectful gratitude for your participation in the funeral ceremony
for Lord Lothian at Washington Cathedral on December 15th. I
would also express to you and to Mrs. Roosevelt my very deep
appreciation of the beautiful wreath of white chrysanthemums,
which you were so good as to send. I am of course informing Lord
Lothian's sisters of the honor, which you and Mrs. Roosevelt
paid to their brother's memory.
Believe me,
My dear Mr. President,
With the highest respect
Yours very sincerely,
The Honorable
Franklin D. Roosevelt,
President of the United States of America,
Washington, D.C.
