Five main formations consisting of 50-80 M.E. 109 fighter-bombers each, crossed the South East Coast between 8:30 a.m. 3 p.m. and split up into many smaller groups which covered widespread areas in Kent and Sussex. Elements of four formations penetrated to London area. Our fighters intercepted, some enemy machines were shot down. The bombs dropped in London area fell chiefly in South Eastern suburbs and principally affected road and railway communications to a minor extent. Some industrial premises were damaged in Park Royal district but no reports have been received of military damage. Outside London bombs were dropped in Kent and Sussex chiefly affecting Maidstone and Eastbourne. Night October 25th/26th. The enemy resumed his activities at about 6.30 p.m. in moderate strength upon London and Birmingham although attacks also took place in Scotland. In London area bombing was widespread and serious fires, which are now under control, were caused in B districts. A heavy attack lasting 2 1/2 hours was made on Birmingham where casualties so far reported are SB killed and 39 wounded.
