DEPARTMENT OF STATE

      WASHINGTON

      December 30, 1941.

MEMORANDUN FOR MISS TULLY:

With reference to your memorandum of December 27, enclosing
the attached message from the Duke of Kent, I am of the opinion,
in view of the manner in which the telegram to the President
was received, that it would be sufficient, if agreeable, to merely
ask our Ambassador at London to make an appropriate acknowledgment.
Will you kindly let me know if this is agreeable.

George T. Summerlin.

Enclosure:

      Original note from

      the British Embassy,

      December 25, 1941,

      transmitting message.
