My dear Mr. Hackett:
 
        We regret the delay in replying to your letter of 
December 7th but it was necessary for us to obtain all 
the Estate's papers from our warehouse. We have looked 
through all of them but could find no correspondence between 
the decedent and the Secretary of State at the time a land 
grant was made to the decedent in 1912.
