The memorial which we are starting on the road to completion today is of a character particularly suited to a combined effort of Scotland and the United States. It typifies a common reverence for principles which we still believe to be of prime importance in individual and national lives, and its construction will constitute a worthy exemplification of the sharing of historic ideals. We are marking today the consecration of the first American bishop of the Anglican communion.
