excerpts therefrom had to be obtained from the estate. On the instructions of Mr. Hackett and Mr. Roosevelt the Librarian of Congress was advised that the Executors and Trustees had no objection to the publication of the excerpts in question. Because this problem may arise from time to time it is proposed that the Trustees now formulate a statement of policy for dealing with such requests. It is suggested that the policy commonly followed by public libraries and custodians of letters be adopted. Under such policy consent to the publication of letters or excerpts therefrom would be freely given except where such publication would be against public policy, be contrary common standards of propriety, cast reflections upon living persona or place them in disrepute or where such publication is for purely commercial purposes. VI. JAMES R. ROOSEVELT REMAINDER INTEREST As reported at the last meeting, a chimney fire at the James R. Roosevelt residence on Thanksgiving Day of last year caused slight damage. The fire loss was adjusted by the insurance companies at $13.84. Six loss drafts were issued by the insurance companies aggregating that amount. Five of those drafts include the names of the three Executors and Trustees of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Estate as payees, as follows, and are submitted herewith for endorsement: Home Insurance Co. $ .93 Home Insurance Co. 3.09 Hartford Fire Insurance Co. .93 Springfield F.&M. Insurance Co. 1.86 Royal Insurance Co. 6.10 Since Mrs. Helen Robinson has personally paid the cost of repairs as well as general repairs to the chimney, she is entitled to the proceeds of the insurance checks.
