Telegram received from London dated October 27th, 1940.
 
      
 
 
Naval. 
S.S. "Empress of Britain" still afloat 
      destroyers "Echo" and "Burza" arrived at 
      the Clyde with 570 survivors on board some seriously injured 
      10 dead. Cargo of sugar fed the flames. Salvage may be possible 
      if the fire burns out.
 
      
 
 
H.M.S. "Delhi" intercepted French steamship "Albi" 
      4191 tons off Duala on October 25th, in ballast started to scuttle 
      had to be sunk. Crew saved.
 
      
 
 
Merchant service trawler "Silites" damaged in collision 
      with unknown ship October 26th arrived Middlesborough.
 
      
 
 
Polish destroyer "Blyskawica" damaged stern and 
      steering gear in collision with trawler off Arran p.m. October 
      26th. Now at Greenock. Two submarines overdue from patrol Gulf 
      of Taranto presumed lost.
 
      
 
 
2. Royal Air Force. 
Daylight October 26th. In the early 
      morning 5 Blenheims bombed power station at Brest. All returned 
      safely. Later in the day 3 medium bombers on patrol off Norwegian 
      coast sank a merchant ship of about 2000 tons with torpedoes. 
      They were then attacked by 12 enemy fighters one of which is 
      thought to have been shot down. Two of our aircraft are missing.
 
      
 
 
Night of October 26th/27th. Hampdens and Whitleys bombed aero-engine 
      works at Spandau four explosions and large fire. Moabit power 
      station and marshalling yards at Putlizstrasse and Lehrter were 
      bombed/
