      British:
 
      fighters (1 pilot safe).
 
      Shipping Casualties. Another homeward bound convoy was attacked 
      on the night of October 19th/20th in the Northwestern approaches, 
      and ll ships are reported to have been sunk or damaged.

 Middle East.
 On two successive nights October 18th/19th, 
      our aircraft attacked Benghazi. A merchant ship was hit, and 
      bombs straddled a large war ship and three destroyers. Hits were 
      also registered on another ship and on warehouses and railway 
      sidings.
 
      An Italian aerodrome at Rhodes was attacked by three heavy bombers 
      during the day and night of October 18th. Direct hits were obtained 
      on buildings, and a hangar was set on fire.
 
      On October 19th, 12 enemy aircraft dropped 100 bombs in Sidi 
      area of Western Desert without causing either damage or casualties.
 
      
 
 
Sudan
. On the night of October 1Tth/18th, one of our 
      aircraft dive-bombed a large concentration of transport mules 
      near Kassala and on October 18th fires and explosions were caused 
      by our
 
      bombers/
